Do you remember last year we were all glued to our televisions, radios anything that gave us up to date information about our musical icon Michael Jackson. Everybody was texting, making phone calls in shock; we suspected it was a rumor. Michael was subjected to so much distasteful hype and false stories we figured this was among them. No one could believe it and most of all we didn’t want it to be true…Michael Jackson was dead. We thirsted for every detail: how did he die, where did he die, when did he die. We had questions galore. We wanted to see the pictures, anything to satisfy our sadness, our grief. Our hearts sank. We wanted answers and we wanted them NOW.
I sat glued to CNN for any inch of news about my favorite artist. I began to reflect back to when me and my cousin went to see the Jackson Five in the early 1970′s at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. I had all their pictures on my wall and music. The hit song was “I want you back”. I couldn’t wait to see them and I couldn’t sleep I was so excited. When Michael went solo I got to see him in Philadelphia, PA and I was mesmerized. Anyone who has never seen Michael in person missed a treat. You can catch his excitement in his Michael Jackson the ultimate Collection that consist of 4 cds of his music and the prized DVD of his performance. It’s a collector’s item.
Michael wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would want us to continue his mission of love, caring for the environment and being kind to others. His music reflected it. I could write about all the crazy things surrounding his life and death but why? There’s no need. The media made sure every detail true or untrue was broadcasted. I’m not even going to touch on the doctor. We have read enough and seen him enough to form our own opinions. No disrespect, but now Joe Jackson is trying to blame Mikes mother and the promoters of his death. Get a grip Joe. Michael died a year ago. Now you want to place blame just before the first anniversary of his death. I don’t know your reasons for it but it’s time to take a break Joe for real. Even Jermaine has chilled. Don’t hate let’s celebrate!
All the drama will be settled eventually despite lingering questions, there is a time and place for everything. The Jackson Family is stressed and for good reason. Did you all know Randy had a mild heart attack a few weeks ago? Death and the healing process take time. Let us keep the Jackson family in prayer and give our support.
God gave us a fabulous talent and for just this one day can we celebrate Michael’s life peacefully and marvel at his gifts to the world. Let’s remember the wonderful tribute that was televised and his children who told the world they loved their daddy. That moment made us all see that Michael was human and adored.
Thank you Michael for your talent and the music you gave to us. R.I.P. age 50 ”Long Live The King” …….we will love you forever……..
